weekend update

Saturday morning we got up bright and early so that we could get to Patient First when it opened at 8am.  (It's like the DMV in that way.)  This doctor was a little better about explaining what he was doing, but that could easily just be the difference between being the first patient of the day versus the last patient of the day.  He cut off the old bandage, soaked the foam in a glass of water and peroxide, and trimmed the foam down.  (He wasn't quite sure where the wound was, so he cut it a little close on one side.)  Then the nurses put on a fresh bandage, and told me to leave it on for three more days.

We figured we should take advantage of being out on the east side, so we stopped in Canton for breakfast.

That afternoon we went to Ruthie and Gary's house for Hannah's first birthday party.  We'd picked up a copy of The Lorax at Books & Books in Miami Beach.  (It was a close call between that and The Composer is Dead.)  I had been a little worried that Hannah might already have a copy of it, but it turns out that Ruthie hasn't even read it, so it was a good choice after all.  Barbara, Jodi, Andrew, Becca, and Adam were also at the party, so it was nice to catch up.

Sunday I mostly nursed my wounded finger, but that did mean that I managed to get through a couple hundred pages of Atlas Shrugged (not that that's a significant portion of the book).
